A Korean Christmas!

So being 17 hours ahead of the US, we celebrated Christmas today. It started snowing in the morning and the locals said it was the first time in many years that they have had a white Christmas! Oh, you can not go into any shops, restaurants, or even down the street without hearing Christmas music. Ok lets get to the pictures.

After checking into our next hostel we made our way to the War Memorial. It was probably the most exciting and memorable experience we have had here so far. I'll just post a few pictures that really stood out.

After the War Memorial we headed back to gangnam and had dinner with my cousin Mike and some of his friends. The first stop we had seaweed soup, chicken, rice, and cellophane noodles.

After dinner we headed to a trendy diner for kimchi cake, soju, and a sweet mixed drink that I can't remember the name of.

Then we met Mike's friend Ted and headed to a Korean pub. We ordered more soju, korean beer, and silkworm soup! The soup consisted of a broth, peppers, carrot, onion, and silkworm larvae.

That pretty much sums up our night. It was really cold today. Near the end of the night the temperature was somewhere around -10 degrees Celsius. I'm going to try and post videos of Chris and I eating the silkworm larvae on facebook. Along with another video of me gangnam-style dancing in the city of Gangnam =). Tomorrow we are off to the 38th parallel to visit the Demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea!

  4. Jeff: I'll be sure to tell you about it when I get back.

Randy: That video is coming, I just need to figure out how to load it up!

I'm pretty sure you can not order it rare haha. They were saying that a lot of people are allergic to silkworms, I am assuming that eating it rare may increase the chance of an allergic reaction.
